Diving Competitions

County Championships

These events are held throughout the year, and are comprised of the 1metre springboard, 3m springboard and 5m platform events. Competitors fall either into the junior (under 18) or senior group, and perform a range of voluntary dives from a pre-determined number of dive groups.

There are also synchronised diving championships, this involves two competitors diving simultaneously from the same height board, either the 1m springboard or the 5m platform, and the competition is judged on how well the divers synchronise their dives, and on the execution of the individual dives.

Age Group Events

These events involve separate, identical competitions for divers in the following age groups; 8-12, 13-15 and 16-18, where divers must perform a selection of voluntary dives from a pre-defined number of dive groups. This competition allows divers to compete with other individuals of a similar age to themselves.

Novice Events

The novice competitions allow the less experienced divers to get a taste of competition. In these events divers perform a range of diving skills, which all form the basis of the more technically challenging moves, as well as having the opportunity to do some voluntary dives of their own choice.

Masters Events

The masters competition is for the “older” diving contingent, the first of which was held in October 2011. This competition, although fiercely fought, is a lot of fun and gives an opportunity for the more mature divers to compete alongside each other.

In addition to the events described above, divers from Hertfordshire compete in Regional, National, European and even International competitions, regularly bringing home titles to the county.
